New to Kushala Yoga
Starting at a new yoga studio can feel a little uncertain. You may be wondering which class to choose, what to bring, or whether you need any previous experience.
Here’s how to get started at Kushala.
1. Find a class that suits you
Many of our classes are suitable for beginners, but the best place to start depends on what you’re looking for, your current level of activity, and whether you are working with any injuries or mobility concerns.
Our Beginner-Friendly Yoga Classes page will help you compare your options and choose a class that feels appropriate.
You can also use the filters on our schedule to browse classes by style, level, or area of focus.
Not sure which class to choose? Contact us and tell us a little about what you are looking for. We are happy to help.
2. Reserve your class
When you find a class you would like to attend, select Reserve on the schedule.
You will be asked to sign in or create an account, then choose a pass. New students may begin with a single drop-in or our introductory offer.
Once your reservation is complete, you will receive a confirmation email.
If a class is full, select Notify Me to join the waitlist and receive an email if a space becomes available.
3. Come to the studio
For your first class, plan to arrive about 10 minutes early.
Check in at the front desk and let us know it is your first visit. We will show you where everything is, help you get settled, and answer any questions before class begins.
Please bring:
- A yoga mat
- Comfortable clothing you can move in
- A water bottle, if you would like one
We provide blocks, straps, bolsters, blankets, and other yoga props.
Joining online
Some classes can also be attended live through Zoom.
Reserve the class as usual and select the online option. You will receive an email with the link to join. We recommend setting up your camera, mat, and props a few minutes before class begins.
A few things to know
You do not need to be flexible, experienced, or particularly fit to begin yoga.
Our teachers offer options throughout class, and you are always welcome to rest, modify a movement, or leave something out. Yoga is not about keeping up with the person beside you. It is about learning to work with your own body, attention, and energy.
