Each year, through the generous support of our members, give financial support, donations, and volunteer services to organizations and individuals in our community. In 2014, we gave over $3,500 in donations to our community.
SHARE Family and Community Services
For many years we have supported SHARE Society. SHARE Family & Community Services Society is a non- profit, independent, community based organization providing leadership and programs in response to the social needs of the residents of the Tri-Cities (Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, Anmore and Belcarra), New Westminster and adjacent communities.
Each Christmas we sponsor assemble a food hamper for a local family in need through Share’s Caring Neighbour Program. The generous donations of our community help to create a joyous and abundant holiday for our sponsor family.
Each Sunday from 2:15pm – 3:15pm we hold an all-levels by donation class to raise money to send a yoga instructor to Share’s after school programs which run out of Roy Stibbs and Mountain View Elementary School. Other by-donation classes also run on Christmas Day and New Years day.
We also hold regular by-donation community events to raise money for Share’s ongoing giving initiatives.
Sponsorship of Fundraising Events
We regularly donate yoga passes to fundraising events, for door prizes and silent auctions. Although we cannot sponsor every request, we try to help out all those we reasonably can. If you are holding a fundraising event, please email us your sponsorship letter or drop it off at the studio.
Kushala Yoga holds regular fundraisers to support community organizations and special causes. In 2014, we hosted Posturing for Peace, a yoga fundraising event for Canadian Mental Health: to empower people with mental illness to live fulfilling lives in the Tri-Cities Community, by raising money for funding of creative activities that support new beginnings, an active lifestyle and encourage community participation.
