I am new to yoga. Which class should I attend?

We offer several classes that are suitable for beginners. Visit our beginner yoga classes guide for help choosing a class that suits your experience, interests, and current level of mobility.

What should I bring to class?

Comfortable clothing

Wear clothing that allows you to move comfortably, such as stretchy pants, shorts, a T-shirt, or a long-sleeved top. Yoga is generally practiced barefoot so your feet can grip the mat.

During colder months, you may also want to bring socks and a warm layer to wear during the final relaxation at the end of class.

Water bottle

Bring a reusable water bottle. You can refill it at our filtered water station. Tea is also available after class.

Yoga mat

Most students bring their own yoga mat, but studio mats are available to use at no charge.

Is free parking available at the studio?

Yes. Free four-hour street parking is available on St. Johns Street, Spring Street, and Electronic Avenue.

We also have three parking stalls in the lot on the west side of our building. Enter the lot while travelling west on St. Johns Street. If those stalls are occupied, turn onto Spring Street, where additional street parking is available behind the studio.

See the map below for suggested free parking locations.

How early should I arrive for class?

You are welcome to arrive up to 15 minutes before class begins. Arriving a little early gives you time to check in, settle onto your mat, and prepare for class.

How often should I attend yoga classes?

There is no single schedule that is right for everyone. How often you attend may depend on your health, goals, other physical activities, and available time.

Consistency is usually more important than frequency. Establishing a regular weekly schedule can help you become more familiar with the practice and notice gradual changes in strength, mobility, balance, and overall well-being.

Listen to your body and allow time for rest and recovery. If you plan to attend more than twice a week, a membership may offer the best value.

Do I need to register before class?

Yes. We recommend reserving your space before coming to the studio. Visit our yoga class schedule and select “Reserve” beside the class you would like to attend.

Some programs, including Yoga for Beginners, are offered as pre-registered courses. These require registration for the full series rather than individual classes.

You can register for courses through our Workshops and Events page or contact us for assistance.

Are the studio rooms heated?

The room is maintained at a comfortable room temperature, with mild air conditioning in the summer and heating in the winter. We do not offer hot yoga classes.

Does the studio have showers or change rooms?

We do not have showers or dedicated change rooms. We have two bathrooms that students are welcome to use for changing.

Do you sell yoga mats, props, or other retail items?

  • Yoga mats, blocks, straps, blankets, bolsters, cushions, dowels, and sandbags
  • Meditation cushions and eye pillows
