Shannon Emery

Clinical Counsellor, MA CCC

Shannon has her Master’s Degree in Clinical Counselling and is registered as a Canadian Clinical Counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. She has 10 years of direct clinical practice behind her. In 2001 her passion to help others led her to work as an addictions counsellor for youth and family at a non-profit outpatient clinic. In 2007, at the same clinic, she undertook her first great enriching challenge to become the Executive Director. In this position her focus shifted to adult and couples counselling. In 2010, Shannon’s heart led her back to working with youth who suffer with mental health and addiction issues. Now she is looking to expand her practice to continue working with youth and families, which includes individual, couple and group sessions, as well as, presenting educational workshops and seminars.

Shannon considers herself as a lifelong learner. She continues to develop her skills and knowledge around therapy through training and clinical supervision. Her philosophy of counselling is looking at our essential areas of life which includes our thinking, emotions, physical state, occupational/educational path, social and spiritual well-being. She feels people are the experts of their own lives. Through this belief she helps others find health and balance in these areas. When these goals are achieved it is believed we will experience an overall sense of well being and satisfaction with our lives.

Shannon practices her own philosophy by being active in her community; practicing yoga and meditation; art and photography and is an avid downhill biker, with many other interests in fitness.
