Yoga Tune Up Ball Therapy for Self-Massage Part Two: Upper Body

In this workshop, we will work on self-massage for the upper body – Low back, mid back, upper back, shoulders, chest, jaw and neck.

Do you have tension headaches, back pain, sore shoulders, jaw pain? This workshop will teach you techniques you can incorporate into a daily self-care routine.

The Yoga Tune Up® Ball Therapy Workshop provides crafted self- deep tissue massage explorations that target specific muscles, connective tissue and joint mobility and attempts to induce compression, frictions penetration, motion, circulation , relaxation and length into muscles and fascia (myofascia). These sequences are excellent pre-exercise warmups, they bring a much needed proprioception and awareness to areas of the body that may be prone to injury due to poor circulation, old injuries, scar tissue or chronic tightness. The sequences are also helpful as a post-exercise “warm down”as they help to stretch out our muscles and connective tissue that may have been heavily targeted in a workout session, they help to unwind knots and adhesions in muscles and connective tissue that can develop from overuse, underuse, misuse or abuse. They induce deep relaxation, a much-needed element of any physical discipline to help the body enter the parasympathetic phase of down-regulation for rest and repair.

This workshop with Heather Dawson allows you to easily tailor your self-treatment to meet your personal needs, using a variety of grippy, pliable rubber balls.

Heather is a Yoga and Pilates Instructor, a certified Yoga Tune Up Teacher and a Ball Therapy Practitioner. She provides classes that integrate anatomy awareness and myofascial release. Heather can be often spotted carrying a bag of massage balls to class as she thrives to help her students learn to move better and live a healthier, well balance life in their bodies.
